Happy Spring and Fairy Gardens

Well it’s officially Spring!  Is it warm where you live?  It is feeling more like Spring here in Alabama.  In honor of the first day of Spring I thought I’d share with you the fairy gardens we made last year! These were so fun to make!  Don’t you just love miniature anything?  Fairies are surrounded with whimsy and imagination.  Watching my girls light up as we placed the furniture around and secret door by the tree was awesome.  I wish they really…

An Easter Garden

To celebrate Ash Wednesday the girls stayed home from school and after Mass we created our own Easter Garden!  I’ve seen several versions of these on Pinterest and always wanted to make one.  They are also called Resurrection Gardens.  It’s a great hands on way to tell your children about Jesus’ resurrection. First you will need a clay saucer and small pot. Turn your small pot on its side.  This will be your tomb. Next you will need some potting soil.  Fill…

Cupid’s Arrows

We finally crafted our own Cupid's Arrows!  I took inspiration from all of the great examples on my previous post.  Ours is a combination of the feather arrows and the traditional red and pink Valentine's colors.  I know one thing-feathers are messy!  These would also be great décor for couples showers, baby showers, engagement parties, etc.   Here are the supplies you'll need:  All of these can be purchased at Hobby Lobby.  I also bought two glass vases on sale…

Happy New Year

It's 2017!  I hope everyone's holidays were everything you wanted them to be.  They always go by so fast!  After taking down our Christmas decorations the house always seems so bare.  I kind of like it though, a fresh slate just like the new year.  I transitioned some of our décor to winter.  When I think of winter I think of white, gray, all neutrals.  Also, I think of a little sparkle.  Mercury glass, candles and maybe a twinkle light…

Love in Bloom

This weekend we celebrated the upcoming wedding of our two friends, Bonnie and Paul, with a lovely cherry blossom themed bridal shower.  My friend Ashley styled the event-I was in charge of drinks this time ;)  This theme was light and airy with spring blooms and shades of pink.  Perfect for spring and perfect for LOVE. Enjoy some pics from Saturday….   The pretty invitations that gave a sneak peek to guests of what was to come. The all important…

Sweet Arrangement

I just love all of the cute Valentine decor ideas out there.  Especially when they involve candy!  Here is a sweet little bouquet to display this time of year.  To make each flower cut 6 hearts out of colored card stock.  Punch a hole near the tip of each heart.  Thread a lollipop through the holes.  Arrange hearts on stick and fan out to make petals. Use this as a centerpiece or give as a Valentine! (photo from bhg.com) …

Double Duty

I love decorating with items that have other uses than just decoration.  For my friends baby shower we incorporated her gift into part of the decor.  You can do this with glassware, gifts, games, etc.  The possibilities are endless.  Here is a great example of this for your New Year's celebrations.  For a fun and functional centerpiece, gather your noisemakers and display them on a cake plate.  Fill the gaps with shiny tinsel and you have a double duty centerpiece. …

New Year’s Table

I love the look of mirrors when it comes to decorating for New Year's.  They add sparkle and shine and are easy to find.  Here is an example of an easy New Year's table scape using mirrors. To recreate this look purchase small mirrors or mirrored coasters.  Reuse your cylinder candle vases.  Fill with disco ball ornaments or any other sparkly ornaments you have.   Decorate the outside of the vases with more mirrored ornaments.  Scatter colored ornaments on the table on a…
