Mudroom Makeover

It may seem crazy to be "making over" a new house!  We moved in such a hurry there were still things we wanted to do.  Also, after you've lived in it for awhile you start to figure out what works and what doesn't.  Luckily I have a handy husband!  He did ask me the other day if we were "done"-hahahaha!  That was pretty funny. So I knew I wanted an old church pew in our mudroom.  My brother in law…

With the Super Bowl coming up Sunday you may be looking for some appetizing food to feed your family and friends.  I am not a fan of NFL football I'm more of a college football fan (War Eagle!), but I can always appreciate a gathering that involves food and drink! This is my most popular dish to date!  Ham and cheese sliders.  They are yummy and easy to eat.  Everyone loves them. Click here for recipe.   This is a…

A Peek at Our Playroom

The most exciting thing happened yesterday!  Target featured my playroom Instagram photo on their AwesomeShop Feed!  I think I am still in shock!  It's a cool way to shop right from pictures they find on Instagram and Pinterest.  Check it out!   So, I thought I'd show you a couple of pictures of my playroom transformation.  It started out as a guest/office/playroom.  As you can imagine, it was a little cramped.  Last year we finished out our basement and moved the…

Cupid’s Arrows

We finally crafted our own Cupid's Arrows!  I took inspiration from all of the great examples on my previous post.  Ours is a combination of the feather arrows and the traditional red and pink Valentine's colors.  I know one thing-feathers are messy!  These would also be great décor for couples showers, baby showers, engagement parties, etc.   Here are the supplies you'll need:  All of these can be purchased at Hobby Lobby.  I also bought two glass vases on sale…

Valentine’s Day Decor

We've been iced in for two days so I've been spending a lot of time on Pinterest!  I don't usually decorate my home for Valentine's Day but I came across the cutest idea for making Cupid's Arrows as décor!  I love arrows in everyday décor and these Valentine Arrows add just enough whimsy without being too commercial.  Here are a few of my favorite posts on how to make the arrows… I love the simplicity of these wooden skewer arrows with white…

Happy New Year

It's 2017!  I hope everyone's holidays were everything you wanted them to be.  They always go by so fast!  After taking down our Christmas decorations the house always seems so bare.  I kind of like it though, a fresh slate just like the new year.  I transitioned some of our décor to winter.  When I think of winter I think of white, gray, all neutrals.  Also, I think of a little sparkle.  Mercury glass, candles and maybe a twinkle light…

White Christmas Sangria

I love sangria!  White or red.  It's the perfect cocktail for a crowd.  It involves WINE, fruit and other goodies and looks beautiful!  What's not to love? This is a recipe for a White Christmas Sangria.  It is stunning and tastes great too.  I love the addition of the rosemary.  White Christmas Sangria 1 Granny smith apple 1 Braeburn apple 1 cup of fresh cranberries 1 large sprig of rosemary 1 bottle of Pinot Grigio 1/2 cup white grape juice 1/4 sugar…

Festive Touches in the Kitchen

As promised, here are a few photos of my kitchen with some Christmas décor!  I didn't do a whole lot of decorating in the kitchen.  It seems to have so much going on anyway.  Cooking, homework, artwork, etc.  I do wish I had put up a wreath on my hood.  Maybe next year! You may remember the cardinals on our tree in the dining room.  I just love placing them all over the house at the holidays!  They give a…

O Christmas Tree

The tree is up!  Don't you just love a real tree with colored lights?  Reminds me of my childhood.  Ours would probably be considered "vintage" these days.  No specific style, just full of ornaments from Christmases past.  A few from my childhood, handmade ones by the girls and some new mixed in.  The big question- white or colored lights?  I learned a from a friend to add a couple of strands of white lights to the colored and it takes it…
